Membership Agreement + Community Guidelines
This guide supports one of our community pillars: professional development is more than gaining knowledge, it's about transformation of self. That's why THGI combines learning and community, so interpersonal connection shapes our growth as much as the information we gain. We believe relationships are a core part of learning.
We often hear "be professional in your communication," but what does that actually mean? This guide gives structure so our conversations and dialogue within THGI enrich our learning experience and our sense of belonging in this space.
THGI's aspiration for our community:
To generate mutual curiosity, respect, and appreciation among those of differing perspectives.
To bring forth the trust and courage to generously express and appreciate one another's authentic values, principles, and sense of purpose.
To listen generously and actively support the discovery of common interest and concern.
To stay open and curious about all perspectives, learning from one another rather than debating "who's right."
To inspire openness and willingness to connect or cooperate further.
To create direct experiences of authentic, meaningful conversation.
To foster confidence in members to reach out to those they'd usually avoid.
THGI Community Rules of Engagement
Welcome to the THGI online learning community! To keep this a space where we can connect, grow, and transform, we've established the following rules of engagement. These are rooted in our core values: Passion in Action, Ecosystem Mindset, Integrity, and Safety.
1. Show respect and suspend judgement
Treat all members with respect and empathy.
Approach disagreement with curiosity over conflict.
Hate speech, discriminatory comments, and personal attacks are not tolerated.
THGI is a place that invites difference and welcomes members who are willing to connect across it.
2. Own how you show up and participate in our community
Take responsibility for the quality of your participation and the quality of the conversation by noticing what’s happening and actively support getting yourself and others back “on purpose” when needed.
3. Contribute to a Growth-Promoting Space
Approach conversations with intention and curiosity.
Use a trauma informed lens. Be mindful of what you are sharing. If you need support beyond what the group can offer, please seek appropriate professional help.
4. Engage with Purpose
Seek alignment rather than agreement. Alignment is shared intention; agreement is shared belief. We'll disagree on opinions sometimes, and that's fine.
Share content and ask questions that align with our focus on mental health, sexual and reproductive health, relationships, and trauma.
Avoid self-promotion unless it's directly relevant and approved by moderators.
5. Honor Confidentiality
Respect the privacy of others by not sharing personal details, stories, screen shots, or anything discussed in this group outside of the community.
6. Contribute to the Ecosystem
Your voice matters! Every question, insight, and contribution adds to the whole. Be mindful of the balance between giving and receiving support.
7. Act with Integrity
Share accurate, thoughtful information and credit sources when appropriate.
Avoid spreading misinformation or making unfounded claims.
Uphold a professional and ethical tone in all discussions.
8. Moderation and Accountability
Take responsibility for helping uphold the purpose and intention of this community. Moderators are here to maintain the integrity of this space, and posts or comments that violate these rules may be removed without notice.
Our Process for Addressing Violations
We believe in giving members the chance to course-correct before more serious action is taken. If a violation of these guidelines occurs, here's how we'll handle it:
Step 1: Outreach
A member of the Institute faculty will reach out directly to address the concern and offer a chance to understand and correct the behavior.
Step 2: Warning
If the behavior continues, the member will receive a formal warning via email, outlining the specific violation and the consequences of continued disregard for community guidelines.
Step 3: Removal
If the behavior persists after a warning has been issued, the member will be removed from the program. Removal for guideline violations results in permanent ineligibility to rejoin the Institute.
This process exists to protect the integrity and safety of our community while giving members a fair opportunity to realign with our shared values.
Together, We Thrive
This community thrives when each of us commits to upholding these principles. By engaging with integrity, respect, and purpose, we keep this a space remains a place where we can all connect, grow, and transform.
Thank you for being part of THGI! Let’s make this a space we’re all proud to call home.
